Results: Fear/survival mission: overtime

Fall of the Fugitive
PHASE 2 Fear/survival mission: overtime
aka Otafest Aurora 2013
November 30, 2013

Some of these plans were documented in various blog snippets over the month and in the "Overtime mission briefing" and its addendum.
  • Revealed he has other pairs of sunglasses than the blue "shattered" ones from May 2013 and decided on red ones. One of the sides would actually be broken off.
  • During the random tangent in the initial briefing video, "unfinished business" was claimed.
  • The tangent hinted at previous Otafest experiences/cosplayers, including those filmed for [redacted] and a private cosplay segment video from May 2013. It featured the characters Iron Man, Lili (Emilie de Rochefort), and Serah Farron, from various video games, linked to some of the fugitive's rotating interests.
  • The Iron Man 3 quote recited in the random tangent hinted at the fugitive's situation at the time. The word "compromise" was claimed to be "a funny word".
  • Claimed the infamous May 14, 2012 Global TV "newscast" (news report) hasn't been healthy, though the YouTube channel that previously held the news report was shown to have been emptied, presumably during the Google+ transition. (The copy on the Global Calgary website, before the redesign, was assumed to have been removed in June 2012.)
  • Claimed to be afraid of certain people (most likely linked to the infamous news report), though didn't understand why because "they're really good people".
  • Found out through inquiries with staff members, on Nov. 29, that two certain people would not be attending, subverting the chances of finishing all unfinished business. Later found that a third person was not in attendance, either.
  • Narrowly avoided an encounter with the one supposedly "deathly feared" on Nov. 29 while heading home to pick up the Otafest 2013 guidebook for said inquiries.
  • Gave away papercrafts of two TARDISes (the 10th Doctor's and the 11th Doctor's) and a chibi Madoka Kaname to their respective cosplayers. These cosplayers also received candy distributions either inside a TARDIS or a white box. Furthermore, as stated in the addendum, he also gave away a Portal 2 Companion Cube previously seen in [redacted] to a Chell cosplayer, though was unable to give away a Creeper papercraft from Minecraft. (credits were given in the briefing videos)
  • Putting dark-blue gift bows to put on top of the TARDISes implied there would be something inside, so the TARDISes were filled with Hershey's Kisses and Life Savers (the last two candies the fugitive bought), as well as candy canes.
  • Did the same with papercraft cubes based on the black "3" cubes from the Doctor Who episode "The Power of Three", as well as a white box with a third dark-blue gift bow on top, which was given to the Madoka cosplayer. One "3" cube was not given.
  • Had an incident with spilled contents in the morning, including the aforementioned papercrafts and candy, and other booklets
  • Located cosplayers of the 10th Doctor, the 11th Doctor, and Madoka Kaname (once again) based on Otafest Aurora's proximity to "The Day of the Doctor" and Madoka Magica: Rebellion screenings in local theatres - the other two phases of "Fall of the Fugitive"
  • Gave some candy canes to cosplayers that fit the criteria but were not the first encounters.
  • As hinted in one of the overtime idents and several tweets from FugitiveStatus:
Encountered the one supposedly "deathly feared". A sudden panic attack almost led to him getting kicked out, but volunteers intervened, and apologies were given once again without "running like hell" or "screaming [his] head off". Found several pamphlets/brochures shown to the audience somewhat interesting.
  • Made amends with said "deathly feared". Reports indicate that the fugitive said, "You're a really great person", "I shouldn't be afraid anymore", and "You're better off with your friends than with a fugitive like me".
  • Greeting cards were given to certain people including one of the staff members, the one supposedly "deathly feared", and the two voice actresses/special guests (the latter for reasons of other childhood shows). "Why not? It's the frigging holidays."
  • After making amends, any excitement properly remained as such without subconsciously being converted to apprehension/anxiety
  • Some uncertainty/reluctancy occurred
  • No mental blank-outs really occurred. Claims were made out loud due to various uncertainties.
  • Had some of the aforementioned cosplayers, including those above and the voice actresses, continue writing encouraging statements, and filmed the majority of the cosplayers for cosplay segments in another private video compilation (to be shown for counselors, presumably).
  • Reportedly returned home safely at 10:40 pm
Final result: despite some remaining unfinished business, fear/survival overtime was a major SUCCESS. Fear, and thus delusion, had indeed been overcome.
