Payback: the background

Updated Nov. 15, 2011

The original idea for Payback came during October 2010, just before Otafest Lite 2010 (in November). It was a time when I had not yet fully gotten over the COMPROMISE in May 2010, in which two YouTube users shot me in public (filmed me without my knowledge) and posted their exploits.
It was then that I chose to film myself in a series of short vlogs, put them together, and post the full video before anyone else could post anything of me.

The intro to the series shows the Vader lookalike named superslinger2007 the Internet persona (and my fictional alter-ego character, representing me). It zooms out to show the candidist's camera that would "shoot" me with a bright flash, and "my" blood splattering around the candidist's camera. After the title appears ("payback"), it zooms back into the lens to show "me" using the camera I have access to on the candidist with a bright flash, that would transition into the real-life footage.

Yes, my camera's pink, and I said pink was a threatening color. To my Internet persona/fictional character.

UPDATE: I am currently trying to differentiate me (the user) from the persona. I have stated that the Vader avatar has been confusingly used in the Payback title sequence and Disturbance Over A Leak.

An all-new title sequence is in the works after the first four episodes, and will feature various stills and be animated in Flash again. It will be loosely based on the black-comedy Scout sketch made in Garry's Mod for the Nov. 11, 2011 Usercast. A Lego-caricature of me will be used, because I used such pictures on Facebook before Revelation (2010).

Footage was filmed on November 13; however, by order of my Internet persona, it was deleted. Only a few photos of a Mario-themed statue built in Lego bricks remain. This left me with the next date I could hope to survive and film the series: May 2011.

UPDATE: Actually I felt this early attempt at Payback wasn't good enough. It featured a really agitated me, and candidized a whole lot of people, in a somewhat malicious manner. There wasn't even a format for the series yet.

After much pondering and concern, I decided to fade out the blood in the intro and expand the title to "Payback: the Otafest vlogs" for clarification. The focus now shifts to filming only myself for the short vlogs, and hopefully barely anyone else. Unless I ask them, which I am way too nervous to do! Major apologies in advance if I do though. However, due to the two major dance events, I will likely be unable to post anything before other people do, because I'll need to put the video clips together!

UPDATE: Well, it turns out that featuring various cosplays ended up becoming a major part of the series!

Let's just hope things go well, because it'll be raining, and I may coincidentally be frustrated with something....
