"I cannot hold on, I will not let go."
-Breaking Benjamin, "Hopeless"

As that FugitiveStatus report implied, I ended up visiting a local Japanese festival on August 23, 2014. Ok, so there was a train station opening that morning, and then I had to take a bus to the Japanese festival's new location. Sure, I had some of the food and watched bits of some performances, but as expected, I took the chance to get a few more Otafest pins. Ok, the Otafest staff said online that they had a booth there, and I was suffering withdrawal for the third month or so.

Schoolgirl Seph
The theme for Otafest 2014, the setting of the [5161814] final mission, was of school/academy, and so we have Seph here in a school uniform. This pin was released during the 2014 convention itself, and I gotta admit, it's quite adorably cute. However, as of this post, there is no schoolgirl counterpart pin for Aurora. It doesn't really matter anyway. And like I said, I had to counterbalance it out with an Aurora pin (of any kind).

Casual Aurora
After some waiting around, I ended up getting this Aurora pin design. This pin was actually from Otafest 2013. Apparently this was one of the last 2013 pins the staff had in storage, but I wouldn't know what else to say about it. You may notice that Aurora is winking, but I'll get to that later.

Basically, these two pins are the pins I got at the booth at the Japanese festival that are of different designs than the ones I already have. And, no, I did not go for the newly-revealed Halloween witch mascot designs nor did I go for the role-playing-game-themed pins. I still thought I wouldn't be going back to Otafest other than these side events.

White Swan Aurora (brass-gold)
While looking over social media, I found out the staff was doing some "gold rushes" as well while at another convention. Turns out they ended up doing one of these special trade-or-purchase opportunities at the local Japanese festival, too, so, after some pressured quick pondering (they weren't gonna keep that pin board out forever), I decided to trade my regular White Swan Aurora pin for a brass-gold one. I couldn't have known about the "gold rush" opportunity otherwise, since my phone was out of battery and, besides, I can't really access the Net on the go, either.

Notice that compared to the April 25, 2014 clue drop photo, I managed to get brass-colored pin snaps for the cheerleader Seph pin.
Now, being in possession of three true brass-gold pins, they may no longer only support the "book ends" theory across the character designs of 2010 (Cheerleader Seph from the year I got COMPROMISED) and 2014 (June from the year of the [5161814] mission).

However, they might just represent each of the missions/events that took place after my "fatal decision" based on when each pin design was revealed. But for me to argue this point, I have to bring out the rose-gold Starlight pin.

  • Cheerleader Seph (left), released in May 2013
  • Starlight (top), revealed in Dec. 2013 and released Jan. 18, 2014
  • June (bottom), depicts a then-upcoming character design but released as early as Jan. 18, 2014
  • White Swan Aurora, character design for Nov. 30, 2013 but released May 2014

And remember what I said about a character winking? Yup, winking means importance. (At least to me.)
Depicted here are the previously featured Angel of Death Seph and 100-in-existence June pins, as well as the Aurora pin I just got. Ok, I guess these three pins represent each of the post-fatal-decision missions better. I mean, the respective mascots represent their one-by-one arrival representations, anyway.
  • Seph (left)- main mascot of Otafest. First post-fatal-decision mission where she was the main mascot was in May 2013 (Otafest 2013 / fear/survival mission)
  • Aurora (right) - spinoff mascot. White Swan design was created for Nov. 30, 2013 (Aurora 2013 / fear/survival mission: overtime)
  • June (middle) - new mascot who appeared in May 2014 (Otafest 2014 / [5161814])
Each of the mascots also got the opportunity to join in one by one and wave at the camera across the mission dates listed above, too. More of that in the debriefings.

And so, here are all my pins as of August 23, 2014. I still arranged them so that two of the brass-gold pins are at the far left and right for the old "book ends" theory, and that any Seph pin is to the left of an Aurora pin.
The way it looks now? I don't know if I'll be getting any more pins, especially of the other mascot characters they're featuring or any other Otafest logo colors, or even the 16-bit ones I considered at one point. I don't think I'd be allowed to just recreate the sprite art in Minecraft like that, either; I'd also be too busy with other things.

I think I said once that I would have to get some other mascot to wave at the camera before I even considered getting their pin, and even then, that could drive a "fugitive" crazy.
